Toys and Games Product Development is a Klugonyx Specialty.
As consumers increasingly seek high quality and engaging toys and games, toy design and development must be approached with both creativity and precision. Kids expect fun and surprise; parents and retailers expect safety, durability, and clear age grading.
At Klugonyx, we specialize in simplifying the complexities of bringing innovative and safe toys and games to market. Whether you are launching a new board game, designing an interactive toy, or developing the next big play experience, we guide you through toy product design, materials selection, safety testing, and every stage of toy manufacturing so you are never left guessing about the next step.

Toy & Game Product Development Services

Product Design & Engineering
As a product development company, Klugonyx unites product design and product engineering from day one. We focus on consumer product design backed by practical product engineering services like DFM, CAD, and functional prototypes. By aligning design and engineering early, we cut rework, speed timelines, and make sure your product is truly ready for manufacturing, not just a nice rendering.

Factory Sourcing & Manufacturing
When your design is ready, we take over factory sourcing and supply chain management so you’re not guessing your way through overseas manufacturing. Klugonyx provides factory sourcing services across China, Vietnam, Mexico, and other key regions, connecting you with reliable manufacturing partners. We manage quoting, sampling, quality control, and global sourcing so production runs smoothly and can scale with your brand.

Toy Design Case Study: Mobi Games – Zippee
Mobi, a baby toy and game company, set out to create a new sensory toy inspired by the founder’s infant daughter, who loved pulling on shoelaces and exploring their texture and tension. Their first handmade prototype was a mason jar with hand-poked holes and threaded shoelaces.
Working closely with Mobi’s founders, as well as doctors and therapists, the Klugonyx design team explored countless concepts and sketches to ensure the toy would engage multiple senses, stand out visually, and most importantly be safe for babies to interact with.
The result was Zippee, a colorful, food grade silicone toy made of textured grip strings, which launched in 2020 and went on to win the ABC Kids Expo Best New Product Award that same year. Today it remains a standout example of how thoughtful toy design and development can turn a simple idea into an award winning, kid safe product.

Toy and Game Product Design and Development FAQs
Common questions we hear from inventors, founders, and brands about toy design and development.
A strong toy or game idea usually solves a real play need or offers a fresh twist on a proven play pattern. During an initial discovery call, we’ll talk through your concept, target age range, price point, and how kids and parents will actually use it. We’ll also look at competitive products and discuss whether your idea has a clear point of difference. From there, we can recommend the best toy design and development path or suggest refinements before you invest heavily in design, prototypes, and molds.
Costs to design a toy or game vary based on complexity, number of components, and how developed your idea is when we start. A simpler toy or game with only a few parts will typically cost less than an electronic toy, multi part playset, or large inflatable play experience. Some toy design and development projects may be a few thousand dollars, while more complex projects require a larger investment once you include engineering and prototypes. The best way to get an accurate estimate is to share your idea, desired features, and timeline so we can scope the work accurately.
Timelines depend on complexity and how many rounds of iteration you want to explore. A straightforward toy product design project can often move from early concepts to a refined design direction in four to six weeks. More complex toys and games that require multiple prototypes, custom mechanisms, electronics, or detailed testing plans can take several months before they are ready for tooling and toy manufacturing. At the start of the project, we will map out a realistic schedule so you understand key milestones and decision points.
We have developed many toy and game products and are well versed in major toy safety standards and best practices. While we are not a testing lab or law firm, we design with safety in mind from the beginning by considering age grading, small parts, sharp edges, pinch points, use of cords or strings, and material choices. We then connect you with accredited testing and certification partners who can formally test and certify your toy or game for safe public distribution and use in your target markets.
That’s completely normal. Most people starting toy design and development do not have every detail figured out. You bring the idea and the problem you want to solve—whether it’s keeping kids engaged, teaching a concept, or creating a memorable play experience. Our toy design and development team will work with you to explore concepts, define play patterns, create sketches and 3D models, and test early prototypes. Together we refine how the toy or game will look, feel, and function until you are confident in the direction.
Yes. Klugonyx provides toy manufacturing support and factory sourcing as part of our end to end toy and game development services. We work with factories in key regions such as China, Vietnam, Mexico, and others that are experienced with toy safety standards and manufacturing requirements. We help you gather quotes, review capabilities, evaluate samples, and choose a manufacturing partner that fits your product, order volume, and budget. Our goal is to help you build a long term manufacturing relationship while managing risk, quality, and timelines.
