Project: pill popper
Client: Easy To Use Products
Capabilities: research // design // engineering // manufacturing
CLIENT REQUEST: Remembering and tracking medication intake is a pain for those taking the medication and those caring for them. Taking too much or not enough medication can be dangerous. Thus, the client wanted to create a simple and inexpensive product that streamlines the process of tracking the what and the when of taking your meds.
THE CHALLENGE: Design an affordable, medication tracker that fits any medication out there and doesn’t take a manual to learn how to use. Also, give a little bit of that extra “oomph” - like make it satisfying and fun to track (i.e. the delightful feeling of playing with bubble wrap.)
THE APPROACH: Competing products are often expensive and overly complex for users who may be taking upwards of 10+ medications. So we explored modular solutions with minimal parts. The solution had to fit on different sized bottles/tubes and be able to be removed and used again when the bottle was through. The playful “pop” feature was such a small part yet was a large effort with many iterations before we felt it functioned properly.
THE RESULTS: An intuitive, low cost, one ‘click’ medication tracking system built into a tag. The elastic ring stretches to fit nearly any container and intake is tracked by popping the corresponding bubble as a reminder. Reset at the end of each week to use again and again!
